Sensory Fridge Tray
This was an interesting project based around our introduction to Arduino systems and computer coding and we got to design around them.
Arduino was a great device to work with as their full online tutorials made self learning much simpler and I felt more confident to use it for a design.
For the brief I wanted to use the system to aid my gran with dementia, and initially I aimed to try remind her when to eat, so she doesn’t become malnourished. Using a force touch capacitor, a light sensor to measure when the fridge was being opened or closed, and a LED ring – I designed a try to fit inside her fridge. This tray measured when something had been sitting for too long, and lights the object up. The time for the light to operate can be adjusted to act as just a reminder or maybe suggest when something could have gone out of date.
Electronics was fun to work with and the access to resources means for lots to learn and much space for creativity.
